Stages & Stereos’ “Julia Gulia”: “I prevent myself from getting over you”

0

Stages & Steroes have released a new song, “Julia Gulia,” a catchy, angsty jam that confronts the internal struggle of leaving an unhealthy comfort zone. The track marks the third in a string of singles – after “Remember You” and “Co-Dependent (Good Enough)” – the band has released so far this year, their most recent material since their 2013 sophomore EP, Small Town Favorites.

I was in quite a rut when this chorus, lyric, and melody began to form in my mind. I was walking from work to my new, but temporary home. Having recently separated from a serious relationship I was distraught, and sleep deprived as it started to rain. All I could think about was running back to the oppressing, yet familiar place I had been so complacent with.  Hints the line in the chorus ‘I prevent myself from getting over you.’ As cheesy as it sounds, I feel like it was exactly what was happening to me. It is honest. – vocalist/bassist Daniel Lancaster
