Meet KaiL Baxley, the soulful, nomadic songwriter you’ve been waiting for. Based out of Los Angeles, KaiL meshes traditional rock stylings with a vintage groove, soul and blues.

Why and how did you start making music?

Well when I was a kid I used to create little songs by using 4 or 5 of those cheap Sears tape recorders I’d confiscated from the school library or various other places. I would sync up different beats and sounds and have one tape player recording while I timed the others to put together these little loop arrangements. It was a lot of fun. There was no money for instruments when I was growing up. I didn’t own a guitar until I was around 20. So I happily made due with whatever I could find. It was my secret little hobby.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?

I got to do a radio show this past year with a guy named David Dye who host a show called World Café’ on NPR. I’ve listened to that show since I was very young, so it was a great honor to be on.

Keep up with KaiL Baxley on all things social!
