Behind The Song: Fort Lean, “New Hobbies”

0

An electrifying and bold sound, Fort Lean is blasting onto the scene. The Brooklyn based rock outfit are in the midst of releasing their debut albumĀ Quiet Day, which is expected to dropĀ later this summer. The band recently spoke to us about their hit track “New Hobbies” and the story behind this quixotic tune.

I wrote this song while I was in a state of dazed recovery after getting gassed and knocked out at the dentist. I was home visiting my parents, and after I came home from the dentist I sat out in a storage shed and wrote this song on my childhood acoustic guitar.

The song is kind of a cautionary tale about how one moment of bad luck or one bad decision can change the course of your life in a second. It’s about getting caught smoking pot by your parents, sleeping with your bosses daughter, and robbing your drug dealer. One case of bad luck and two terrible decisions. I’d recommend avoiding all of these situations at all costs, unless your parents are potheads.
You can check out the tun below as well as listen to various tracks on their forthcoming release here.
