Behind The Song: Lionfight, “Black”

0

Aggressive and dark, Chicago’s Lionfight welcomes you to the “Black,” their hard-hitting new single. The group’s singer, Akash Hans went behind the scenes of their new track and the band has also released a lyric video for “Black” which you can check out below.

“I recently tried to find an ex-girlfriend I had dated years ago to see how she was doing,” says Akash Hans. “When I couldn’t find her anywhere online, I reached out to her sister to see how the family was doing. The news I received from her was pretty disturbing. It turns out that same innocent girl I once dated is now homeless under a bridge somewhere in Illinois, addicted to Heroin. Any day now, her family could receive a call to find out that she is dead. Sadly, she isn’t the only one. In the last two years, the members of lionfight have lost multiple friends to Heroin. Most of them losing their lives on the first try. The song, “Black,” is our musical representation of this vile drug flowing through the veins of our lost friends. It takes place in the mind of an outsider who is witnessing the user get high. This song is a very personal one to us.”

Lyrics

locked inside a cell

this innocence rots in hell.

ill hold this darkness inside of me,

as a gift for my enemies.

enter the black, relax..

leave me alone.

don’t wake me up.

the high she can’t forget

unleashed the beast inside my head.

every poison has an antidote,

every disease is cured with open eyes.

we are all dead inside,

until we find a way to feel alive.

(Wake up, you’re not listening)

enter the black, relax…

you know deep down,

it won’t last.

you had a chance,

but you gave it all away

to satisfy the black.
