Act As If – “LA Kid”

0

People who make an impact on your life are few and far between, but when do you meet that person, you remember him or her forever. For Los Angles based band, Act As If, and vocalist, Peter Verdell, that person gave life to the band’s music. Verdell recently opened up about the driving influence behind the band’s hit single, “LA Kid.”

Behind The Song:
“I wrote L.A. Kid about a really rad girl named Erin, who lived a few blocks away from me in downtown LA.  She was beautiful and smart and independent–the triple threat.  We hung out as friends a handful of times, and people would always say things like “so how long have you been together?” or “you look so great together,” which we would laugh about–probably to cover up the fact that, yeah, we thought we could look great together too.”

“Eventually, the line between friendship and romance was blurred, and I wrote this song…trying to capture the feelings we had but also trying to capture a little bit of how impressed I was by her.”

Lyrics:

You were an L.A. kid, you were fighting hard

You didn’t need no one to set you apart

Darkness had my days, but you got in the way

You say you lost your heart, and the lights went on

‘Cause when you saw me it was gone, it was gone, it was gone

You were a late night kid, you spoke in dreams

You never needed someone to set you free

You took me by surprise, and stars fell from the skies

You say you lost your heart, and the lights went on

‘Cause when you saw me it was gone, it was gone, it was gone

And now that I’ve got you here, my days are long

But you know when I’m coming home, coming home, coming home

I know I lost my heart, the lights went on

When I saw you it was gone, it was gone, it was gone

And now that I’ve got you here, my days are long

But you know when I’m coming home, coming home, coming home
