Twice Young – Uncover

0

Nashville’s Twice Young are an eclectic fusion of new wave and ambient rock. Following their debut record, the band is releasing their new EP, Prefer You, on November 11th. The band went behind the scenes about the EP’s single, “Uncover,” and how the track was a start of new beginnings.

Backstory:
“Uncover” began a new chapter for us as writers. This entire EP takes a step away from story telling and focuses on the raw emotion behind what we’ve been experiencing these past few years. A culmination of thoughts from completely unrelated incidents that brought us to where we are now. Uncover focuses on those things that keep you up at night, and follow you through the day. Begging the question, ‘is it worth it?’ We’re not a group of writers who like to introduce a problem and end with a resolve. We’d like to think we’re more honest than that.

We’ve found it pretty crucial to follow initial instinct when creating something new. There’s a natural flow to it when you let the song speak for itself. “Uncover” is a perfect example of that. Each section, a verse or a chorus was created to breathe on its own. I think anyone listening to these songs will recognize this.”

Lyrics

I should care when it’s so quiet,
Find the peace of mind,
That I had once,
A love I used to want is very gone,

I can bury my old ties,
My intentions right,
What have I done?
Am I on your mind when you’re alone?

There’s creatures in my house when I’m sleeping,
They bring me down and I wanna go,
I know you’re fading,
Tell me you’ve been faking,

I’m tired of letting you go,
When you move under cover,
I’m letting go,
Don’t hide the love you want,
No mind the hearts that you harm,

I should hate to be so blind,
Will I need to hide all that I want?
I say it all the time, you ought to know,

Love, you’re so close,
I could stick around and you’d never know,
