Old Crow Medicine Show – Carry Me Back To Virginia
Review by Perry Fish

Some things are better off short and sweet – phone calls to your mother, a stroll in the rain, graduation speeches.  The latest EP by the folk-infused clan, Old Crow Medicine Show does not apply.  Compiled of just three songs, Carry Me Back To Virginia is bittersweet with great songs that leave you unsatisfied.

In 2004 Old Crow released their first major album, O.C.M.S, that put them on the map of up and coming, new wave folk bands.  For a group that has gained as much recognition as they have, it is quite abnormal for them to release an EP at this point in their career.  Nonetheless, they never fail to deliver that raw sound their fans love!

Their latest single and first song on the album is the title track, “Carry Me Back To Virginia”.  Originally released in 2012 on their full-length album, Carry Me Back, this track is a perfect showcase of Old Crow Medicine Show’s instrumental skills.  The fiddle solos alone will blow your mind!

The rest of the EP is composed of a new version of “Ain’t It Enough” and a cover of “Dixieland Delight”.  Both tracks stay true to the Old Crow roots, filled with harmonizing howls and knee slapping beats.  Bring it on Old Crow! We are hungry for more!
