LOLLAPALOOZA – DAY TWO

0

Ashley Osborn (editor-in-chief) and McKenzie Hughes (co-founder) are bringing you another recap of Lollapalooza! Read below, and don’t forget that our FAVORITE photos will be published in our August issue, which you can read for free online starting Tuesday! More details here!

Lollapalooza DAY TWO started off nice and sunny! Actually, it was scortching hot. I headed over to the Bud Light stage to catch the PHENOMENAL Delta Spirit (photographed below). The band played a fantastic, and very energetic, blend of their entire discography. As much as I hate to admit it, I was pleasantly content with the fact that they played so much off of their self-titled full-length, which was released earlier this year! Unfortunately this was the only band I was able to shoot before Lollapalooza was evacuated.

Let us start off by saying congrats to c3 and all of the Lollapalooza staff for a very safe and successful day! After possibly one of the smoothest evacuations (around 3:30PM) due to one of worst storms we’ve ever experienced, Lollapalooza managed to pull together and continue the three day celebration stronger than ever around 6:30PM. The festival continued and we immediately caught fun. (photographed below), and I have no words to describe their performance. So I’ll just describe it using the word ‘smile.’ Boy, does fun. sure have a lot to be smiling about. This year their single ‘We Are Young’ took over the airwaves, they released their second full-length on Fueled By Ramen and they had one of the biggest crowds that I’ve seen so far at Lollapalooza!

Despite the rainfall that delayed Lollapalooza, festival attendees were CLEARLY ready for a new start to their day. Franz Ferdinand (photographed below), the first headliner that played after the festival re-started, was able to provide their crowd with just that and more. Starting out with an instant crowd pleaser, FF by no means lacked any skills in their performance. We were thankful they still played because this was their only show in the United States this entire year! These scotts owned the Bud Light stage!

The iconic Red Hot Chili Peppers (photographed bel0w) gave tens of thousands of fans an amazing combination of both the past and the present when performing. With what seemed to be the busiest performance of the day, with a orchestra piece opening their performance and a strong light show and camera work, fans were able to capture music from a distance in the Chicago nightfall.

The final set we were able to catch on this fantastic second day of Lollapalooza was the incredible Santigold (photographed below). She truly had the most entertaining performance I’ve seen so far at the festival. She was so ecceletic and even had two backup dancers. Her upbeat music and dance moves truly capped my day off to the fullest extent. I loved her set as well. It was all neon colors and you could tell she thoroughly picked every detail of her performance down to the costumes of her bandmates, to the choreography! You couldn’t help but move along!

That’s the end of DAY TWO coverage! Again, we’re so greatful that everybody was safe today and evacuated so promptly! Congrats again to c3! DAY THREE coverage is coming at you later tonight. We can’t wait! Big things planned for the day!
