All American Rejects – Kids In The Streets
Album Review by Jessica Klinner

For what felt like decades, The All-American Rejects have kept fairly quiet.  The last time we heard new music from them was in 2008 when
they released When The World Comes Down. The Rejects have gotten their grove back and released their 4th studio album on March 26th entitled Kids In The Street. Being a fan of the band for many years now, I was so excited when I found out they were releasing new music.  This album has a more mature sound than any of their previous records.  This seems to be a trend with a lot of bands these days.  But let’s be honest, who would listen to a band that produced the same exact sound album after album? At some point it would be too redundant to stand!

Frontman Tyson Ritter was really able to find himself through writing this album.  The past few years Ritter had “lost his way” so to speak.  He found himself doing crazy things and hanging around with people who took him down a dark path.  Thankfully, Ritter was able to find his way back to the light and finish writing the album.  The band was able to record this record with producer Greg Wells (Adele, OneRepublic).  The album is such a great follow up to When The World Comes Down.  It is the perfect album for the Rejects to launch themselves back into the scene with.

Kids In The Street still holds all of the elements that you love about The All American Rejects.  The opening track, Someday’s Gone, starts the album off on an upbeat note with heavy guitar tones and is a mashup of the sound you should expect to hear throughout the album.  The second track and single off the album, Beekeeper’s Daughter, is a fun song that anyone will enjoy having on their summer playlist.  Walk Over Me is a headbanger with Ritter’s vocals resembling that of Steven Tyler.  Affection has a haunting tune to it and sounds like some of The Beatles’ early work. Most songs on the album will make you want to rock out and dance around your room, but every album has its slow jams.  The album closes with I For You and Drown Next To Me.  Both songs are very soft tempo and heartfelt.  These are the songs that you can really feel the emotion behind the lyrics.

The Rejects have once again produced a beautiful rock album that will please all of their old fans and gain them new ones. Watch for The All American Rejects to show up in your town soon. Check their website for tour dates!  Be sure to check out the music video for Beekeeper’s Daughter and pick up the album on iTunes or wherever records are sold near you. This is not one you are going to want to miss out on! Trust me!
